Special Request

24x48
Acrylic, ink, and other materials for texture

This was a Christmas gift for my best friend. She requested this for her living room and I really enjoyed doing this painting. I learned a lot of what I should probably not do as in which order I use some media ;) but in the end it turned out well and She loves it, so that was worth it.

The Holidays

Good day!

It's been cold and beautiful and I have really enjoyed being at home. Although it is extremely boring at times, I have found a spot in the living room with my 9 year old sister watching Christmas movies and painting/ working on things for the big last semester.

I went to the Ritz civic center to ask about exhibiting there after graduation and walked out with a date for a show in my own town. Pretty crazy. I'm excited about it though. It will be November 2011 and there is even an opening reception on the 5th of November just for me.

Monday I ran into one of my friends from high school. She is pregnant and so precious! She is having a girl and her gift from me is my first sewing project :) I'm making her a bird mobile. It was absolutely wonderful to see her. I haven't seen her since May! Anyways she is having her baby on Monday. I'm so happy for her!

Monday evening I intended to do some night photography.

My secret: As much as Blytheville is boring and really a lot of the time I think there is nothing that could interest me here. I love Blytheville in the holidays. Main Str. is wonderful and lit up and run down places that I would never stop intrigue me with their half done Christmas decorations in the windows.

However, I somehow managed to make it 4 hours down the road with my tripod and without the key piece to connecting the camera to the tripod. ha silly me. I go one picture from the light and thought it was worth sharing.
I did go exploring on my way back from Jonesboro and loved every moment. I met some interesting people and ventured out to a few places I have never been and of course the film camera came with me :) The pictures haven't been developed and probably won't until next week. I'll be sure to share my finding with you soon.

This last picture makes me laugh and I really I personally love it. Hope you enjoy!

Micah

Awake

Goodmorning,

I hope your weekend was splendid.

It is most certainly a break. The parking lot is empty and the upstairs is quiet. I still need to repack for Andrew's but my mind is turning very quickly.

I wish everyone a happy week

Vintage this, Vintage that. Old things, New things.

I am deeply inspired by patterns and mostly patterns created originally in there time period. Things found in the attic that haven't been touch in a long time. They have been forgotten, and yet it's so new to me. I love searching through my grandmothers house in search of things and through my mother's jewelry box to find what has been handed down to her. I think that taking these things and putting them in new settings that they haven't been in a long time or they wouldn't normally be put there is something I am inspired to search.

I find a lot of inspiration from Kenda North. Yes I know I talk about her a lot. Her newest body of work showcases a dining table. She was inspired when moving a lot of her mothers things.

This picture was taken on the same day as my post "Rachael".

Nature vs. Humanity

Good day!

This semester, I was able to experience different format film. I found a new love for Holga. It is a medium format camera. 120 mm film.

I am not an environmentalist, but I love Gods creation. He is the ultimate artist and everyday is different, one leaf less, an overcast sky...you get it. I often wonder what it was like in the very beginning of time. In these images I wanted to show vast land that has been has hint of humanity. It seems sometimes times that everywhere we look nature has been taken over or touched by human life, whether its being torn down to build a new community, or new businesses. We have changed our environments in so many ways. Sure we pick locations for the view but still we neglect to see the beauty in nature before its been touch by human hands. In the distance we find more man made structures.
